Who are we?

We are a group of committed community members, each with a passion and inclination to see Yuma thrive. This project is for the community, by the community. The scope of the entire project is a multipurpose recreation center with amenities like an indoor and outdoor pool, basketball, volleyball, and racquetball courts, weight room, indoor and outdoor track, multipurpose rooms, and a child care center.

The idea of the Yuma Recreation Complex was a community concept that dates back to 1991. The long standing goal gained momentum this year when the Daniels Fund initiated an interest in the Yuma community. Unlike the initial plans in 1991, our project is not associated with the City of Yuma, so the funds used will not be tax dollars but rather donations and grant money.

The Community Foundation of Northern Colorado is currently the fiscal sponsor for the Yuma Recreation Complex until the organization is able to redeem a 501c3 status. The Yuma Recreation Complex has begun fundraising to secure a feasibility study, which is estimated at $50,000. The feasibility study will use data to determine the adequate size, amenities, and location to be sustainable, long term.

Our proposed recreation center will provide well-rounded adventure and wellness opportunities for ALL. As a rural community, we need to do our part to bring in new amenities to make sure Yuma can continue to be home to many- for years to come. Donations directly enable us to pursue this mission and test if this is a project that will be sustainable in our community.
